John Reiswig

John Reiswig is the creator of the Pitch Space universe, a grounded vision of the future built on corporate ambition, frontier survival, and the stubborn will to endure. His stories blend human-scale tension with the realism of lived-in science fiction, from the collapse of Incident on Valarta-4 to the far-flung voices collected in Tales from the Pitch.

A retired U.S. Coast Guard Chief, John draws heavily on these years and the people he served with to create characters who face isolation, responsibility, and quiet acts of courage. He is also the writer and illustrator of Coasteaze, a long-running comic series that finds humor and truth in the daily rhythm of service life.

He lives in Sonoma Valley with his love Roswitha, where he writes, sketches, and shares his workspace with Baxter, a cat who insists on sharing his chair.

About Pitch Space

The Pitch Space series unfolds in a future where humanity has pushed beyond Earth, guided in part by the knowledge of the Chulak, a refugee species whose arrival changed the course of history. Their collaboration led to the invention of the Pitch Drive, a revolutionary system that launched humankind into the stars.

But expansion has not brought unity. The frontier is a place where fragile settlements struggle to endure, corporations battle for dominance, and ordinary people are caught between survival and exploitation. The United Americas, the European Union, and the COM BLOC all maintain a presence among the stars, but it is often the corporations like Titan, Aetheris, and Vanguard that decide who thrives and who is abandoned.

Amid this backdrop, the series follows those who live and fight at the edge of civilization. Rescue teams venture into disaster zones where no one else will go. Stellar Guard crews patrol lawless sectors, never sure whether they serve justice or bureaucracy. Pirates and smugglers carve out their own kingdoms in the shadows of neglected systems. And throughout, settlers, engineers, and scientists struggle to build lives in hostile environments where alien worlds and non-sapient life can be as dangerous as corporate intrigue.

Blending grounded science fiction with human drama, Pitch Space is not a story of empires, but of individuals facing impossible choices. It is about loyalty, survival, and the cost of progress in a universe where the frontier offers both freedom and peril in equal measure.
